Ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated cabinet shake-up, ministers and their political godfathers have ramped up efforts to secure their positions. On Wednesday, the Presidency confirmed that the President would soon announce a reshuffle, corroborating reports from earlier in the month.
Several ministers, fearing removal, have begun lobbying through influential godfathers and close associates, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. Amid rising pressure, sources reveal that Tinubu took time off in the UK to let the lobbying frenzy cool down. However, reports suggest that the cabinet shake-up is likely to be finalized by October 1.
Despite political maneuvering, performance evaluations will ultimately guide the reshuffle. Presidential aides noted that underperforming ministers, regardless of their godfathers, will be replaced.
