Big Brother Naija Season 9 Winner Kellyrae Pleads with Nigerians to Stop Asking for Financial Help

Date:

Big Brother Naija Season 9 winner, Kellyrae, has made a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians, urging them to stop bombarding him with requests for financial assistance. In a candid revelation, the reality star admitted that despite winning a substantial cash prize, he is not wealthy and needs time to “settle.”

“I’m Not Rich Yet” – Kellyrae

Speaking in a recent interview with popular media personality Hero Daniels, Kellyrae shared his frustration over the influx of financial requests he’s been receiving since he publicly announced that he gave his wife, Kassia, N55 million from his prize money.

“I was receiving calls from people close to us after I said I gave Kassia N55 million, and they were asking for their own share of my prize money,” Kellyrae revealed during the interview.

The reality star clarified that while the money he won is significant, it is not limitless, especially given the high cost of living. “I will like to say to everyone, I’m not a rich man yet, please. The money is big, but things are expensive. Even if it’s egg I want to buy, how many crates of eggs will I buy? Please allow a brother to settle,” he pleaded.

Winning Big But Feeling the Pressure

Kellyrae’s victory on Big Brother Naija came with a massive N60 million cash prize, alongside a brand new car worth N40 million. However, despite the financial windfall, the reality star emphasized that managing such a large sum comes with its own pressures. He hinted that many people, including friends and acquaintances, have developed unrealistic expectations about his wealth.

Since his win, Kellyrae has made headlines for his generosity toward his wife Kassia, but his recent statements reveal that the fame and fortune also come with challenges. The reality star’s plea underscores the fact that even winners of large prize money can face financial strain, particularly when faced with constant demands from others.

The Reality of Post-BBNaija Fame

Kellyrae’s experience is not unique among Big Brother Naija alumni. Many winners and contestants have reported feeling overwhelmed by the expectations placed on them after leaving the show. The combination of newfound fame and financial windfalls often leads to heightened public scrutiny and a flood of requests for help.
