Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Mr. Wale Ajetunmobi. The announcement came via a statement issued on Tuesday morning by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
The suspension, according to the statement, stems from Ajetunmobi’s misrepresentation of facts regarding a past incident, which he shared on his personal “X” account. The Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to fairness and due process in addressing such matters.
“The Governor wishes to state categorically that his administration frowns at any form of extrajudicial punishment and will not be a part of any such action. That is not who we are. That is not our way,” the statement clarified.
This development underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s intolerance for actions that could compromise the state’s integrity or public trust.
Lagos Assembly Reviews ₦3.005 Trillion 2025 Budget Proposal
Meanwhile, the Lagos State House of Assembly convened on Monday to deliberate on the proposed ₦3.005 trillion 2025 appropriation bill, which Governor Sanwo-Olu had presented the previous Thursday.
During the session, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa referred the bill to a joint committee on appropriation and finance for thorough review. The committee was given a one-month timeline to report its findings.
Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, provided a detailed breakdown of the proposed budget. While commending the government’s vision, he raised concerns over the projected ₦408 billion deficit financing.
“Loans are good when used for the actual purposes,” Olumoh remarked, “but we need to adopt a sustainable and pragmatic approach to financing our budget. Sole reliance on loans is risky. We should explore alternative financing models like Public-Private Partnerships.”
He also urged his colleagues to meticulously scrutinize the proposed budget to prevent wasteful expenditures, emphasizing the need for a realistic and efficient fiscal strategy.
The House’s focus on transparency and fiscal responsibility reflects its commitment to ensuring that public funds are utilized effectively for the benefit of Lagosians.
