The revelation came during a recent court hearing where Adegboyega addressed questions regarding his finances amid ongoing legal battles with UK immigration. He clarified that, despite his prominent role in the church, he does not receive a salary from SPAC Nation.
“I live with my partner, Mary, who earns £100,000 per year. I spend my time working for the church, for which I am unpaid. I am entirely supported by Mary,” he stated.
The 44-year-old pastor’s comments were part of a broader legal dispute concerning his immigration status in the UK. Adegboyega, who entered the UK on a visitor’s visa in 2005, has been fighting to remain in the country after his visa expired.
The UK Immigration Tribunal recently ruled against him, ordering his deportation back to Nigeria, citing that he had overstayed his visa and sought to stay on human rights grounds.
During the proceedings, Adegboyega defended his lifestyle, which includes wearing designer clothing and driving luxury cars. He explained that these possessions were funded by his partner and reflected his belief in inspiring young people.
“I believe it is important for me to dress the way that I do because I need to inspire these young people. They need to understand that there are legitimate ways of making money, such as through entrepreneurship,” he explained.
Adegboyega also highlighted his background, noting that he holds a first-class law degree from Nigeria but has “sacrificed” his legal career to serve others. “I have dedicated my life to helping those who cannot help themselves,” he remarked.
