Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has emerged victorious in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election. Running on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumelo defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dumelo was declared the winner of the parliamentary election held during the country’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He secured his constituency with 40,561 votes, while Lydia Alhassan garnered 27,377 votes.
It’s worth noting that Dumelo previously contested for the constituency seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan. Dumelo, who began his acting career in 1991 while still in school, has since appeared in various Gollywood and Nollywood movies.
