American rapper Kendrick Lamar has been honored as Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of 2024.
Lamar had an exceptional year on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, largely driven by his hip-hop rivalry with Canadian rapper Drake.
During this feud, Lamar released several chart-topping songs, including the number one hit “Not Like Us.” This achievement makes Lamar the first rapper to be named Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of the Year since Drake in 2018.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has now tied with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” as the longest-running number one songs in Billboard Hot 100 chart history, each holding the top spot for 17 weeks.
Remarkably, the longest-running number one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart are by Black lead artists.
