Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has denied having any agreement with Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
Kwankwaso refuted claims that he would rule Nigeria for four years, followed by Atiku for another four years, and then Obi for eight years. Speaking in an interview with the BBC, the former Kano State governor stated that he was unaware of such a plan.
He acknowledged hearing that members of Atiku’s camp were consulting with regional leaders and clerics to promote this narrative. “I did not appreciate this at all,” Kwankwaso said.
“They were told that I had agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, I would serve for another four years, and Peter Obi would serve for eight years. This is completely false; such an agreement never existed.”
Kwankwaso added, “Such lies and deceit are precisely why we left. Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all left. Now they are coming back, asking us to help those who humiliated us to achieve their goals.”
