Social Media Activist Claims Naira Marley Owed Mohbad Money Before His Death

Date:

Controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has claimed that embattled rapper Naira Marley confessed to owing his former signee, Mohbad, an undisclosed sum of money before Mohbad’s tragic death.

Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances in September 2023 after leaving Naira Marley’s Marlian Music, allegedly due to the label’s failure to honor their contract agreement.

The contentious nature of his death led some to blame his former label boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry, who was seen in a viral video assaulting the late singer. Both were arraigned and remanded on October 6, 2023, over their alleged involvement in the events surrounding Mohbad’s death but were later granted bail after pleading not guilty.

Despite their pleas, some fans continue to accuse them on social media and have boycotted Naira Marley’s music.

In a video message circulating on social media ahead of what would have been Mohbad’s 28th birthday, VeryDarkMan, who has been actively involved in the case, said he offered Naira Marley the chance to use his platform to prove his innocence, but the rapper declined.

“I asked Naira Marley why he isn’t coming out to show the public his own evidence, the business side, because he clearly owed Mohbad some money. He told me how much he owed the boy. It’s not a small amount,” VeryDarkMan said.

“He explained what caused their problem. He said their problem started when Mohbad began working outside the record label’s contract and requested to change the management the label provided for him. I then asked him to come out and explain to Nigerians what transpired between them, but he said God will fight his battles.”
