Speed Darlington Released After Two-Month Detention

Date:

Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, has been released after spending two months in detention.

His lawyer, Stan Alieke, announced the news on social media, sharing a photo of Speed Darlington in his office.

Alieke stated that their legal team would seek justice for the violation of Speed Darlington’s fundamental human rights, allegedly committed by the Nigerian Police Force, as well as the unjust treatment he endured. He also expressed gratitude to colleagues, including Marshal Abubakar Esq., Barr. Deji Adeyanju, Barr. Hamza Nuh, and Barr. David, for their efforts in securing his release.

The entertainer’s troubles reportedly began after he made controversial remarks about Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy during a live video, which escalated into a legal dispute. He was accused of defamation and public incitement, leading to his arrest and prolonged detention.
