Woman Arrested for Impersonating Others in Citizenship Exams

Date:

A 61-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly disguising herself with wigs and other disguises to take Life in the UK tests on behalf of others.

Immigration enforcement investigators apprehended the woman at an address in Enfield on Monday, suspecting her of fraudulently completing citizenship tests for at least 14 applicants, both male and female.

She is accused of taking the tests at various centres across the UK, using disguises and falsifying ID documents to avoid detection.

Immigration officers reported seizing “several false documents and an array of wigs” allegedly used in the fraudulent scheme, according to the Home Office. The Life in the UK Test is mandatory for those seeking indefinite leave to remain or British citizenship.

The test consists of 24 questions to demonstrate the applicant’s knowledge of British values, history, and society.

Immigration Enforcement Criminal and Financial Investigation Inspector Phillip Parr stated, “Thanks to our investigators, we have put a stop to this dangerous scheme.”

He added, “This individual is believed to have orchestrated a premeditated plan to evade detection, meticulously selecting disguises and test centre locations across the country.”

The woman, who is alleged to have conducted the fraudulent tests between June 2022 and August 2023, remains in custody as the investigation continues.
