Victor Boniface is thrilled to be back on the pitch after being sidelined for nearly two months due to a thigh injury he sustained during international duty last November.
The 24-year-old made his triumphant return by scoring in Bayer Leverkusen’s match against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday, opening the scoring for Die Werkself in the 15th minute.
After the break, Boniface was substituted by Patrick Schick. Reflecting on his comeback, Boniface shared his happiness and relief. “I feel happy, I feel great. It has been a long time since I’ve been out, I think almost two months, so to be back and playing games is really good for me,” he told the club’s official website.
He also emphasized the importance of scoring early in the game. “It feels good to score, not just as a striker but in general, as a team to score an early goal against a top team like this. It really helps build confidence, and you can see that after the goal, the team gained more confidence to score more.”
So far this season, Boniface has netted seven goals in 11 league appearances for Leverkusen.
