The United Kingdom government has announced plans to demolish Grenfell Tower, nearly eight years after the tragic fire that claimed 72 lives.
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner met with campaigners earlier this week to deliver the decision, which has faced strong criticism from bereaved families and survivors.
According to a government spokesperson, the demolition is expected to take approximately two years and will be carried out sensitively, as reported by Sky News.
The announcement has sparked controversy, with the campaign group Grenfell United, representing survivors and families of the victims, accusing Rayner of ignoring the voices of those directly affected by the 2017 tragedy.
