Doctor Warns Pope Francis Remains in Critical Condition Amid Health Scare

Date:

Dr. Sergio Alfieri, the medical doctor to Pope Francis, stated that the Catholic pontiff ‘is not out of danger.’

Dr. Alfieri emphasized that Pope Francis wants his condition to be reported transparently to the world.

The 88-year-old Pope has been receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital after being admitted on February 14 due to several days of breathing difficulties.

Dr. Alfieri revealed that while Pope Francis’s condition is not life-threatening, it is still serious. He noted that the pontiff will need to stay in the hospital ‘at least all next week’ for continued treatment.

The Pope’s condition is being monitored closely as it can change “day-by-day.”

Dr. Alfieri explained that Pope Francis, who is being treated for double pneumonia, is not in immediate danger of death, but is not yet cured.

During a press conference, Dr. Alfieri said: “Is he out of danger? No. But if the question is, ‘is he in danger of death’, the answer is ‘no.’”

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni provided a brief update yesterday, stating that the Pope had slept well and had breakfast while seated in an armchair.

According to the Vatican, the Pope’s condition was stable and he had shown ‘slight improvement’ based on recent blood test results.
