R&B Legend Roberta Flack, Voice Behind “Killing Me Softly,” Dies at 88

Legendary R&B singer Roberta Flack, celebrated for her timeless hits “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” has passed away at the age of 88.

A statement from her representatives conveyed the somber news: “We are heartbroken to announce that the glorious Roberta Flack passed away this morning, February 24, 2025.

She died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Roberta shattered boundaries and set records. She was also a proud educator.”

In 2022, Flack revealed she had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, which had taken away her ability to sing.
