Cristiano Ronaldo: The Man Who Never Stops Scoring. How He Celebrated His 1,200th Game with a Stunning Goal

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again! The legendary soccer star scored a stunning goal in his 1,200th career game, leading Portugal to a 1-0 victory over Iceland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Ronaldo, who became the first men’s player to win 200 international caps in June, added another milestone to his illustrious resume by reaching the 1,200-game mark on Tuesday. He celebrated the occasion in style, smashing a volley into the top corner in the 89th minute to break the deadlock and secure the three points for his team. The goal was his 123rd for Portugal, extending his world record as the top international scorer of all time.

Ronaldo, who is 38 years old and still playing at the highest level, received a certificate from Guinness World Records before the match to commemorate his 200-cap achievement. He said he was very happy” and “proud” of his career, which spans 20 years and includes five Ballon d’Or awards, five Champions League titles, and a European Championship trophy. He also thanked his fans, teammates, coaches, and family for their support.

Ronaldo’s goal was the highlight of a tense and tight game, in which Iceland defended well and frustrated Portugal for most of the match. Iceland also had a man sent off in the 80th minute, when Willum Willumsson received his second yellow card for a foul on Joao Felix. Portugal, who have won all four of their qualifying games so far, are top of Group J, while Iceland are fourth with only one win.

Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, is showing no signs of slowing down and has his sights set on more records and trophies. He is expected to lead Portugal in the World Cup next year, where he hopes to add the one major title that is missing from his collection. He is also chasing the record for the most club goals in history, which is currently held by Josef Bican with 805. Ronaldo has 783, and could surpass Bican if he continues his prolific form.

Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, and his 1200th game is another testament to his remarkable longevity, consistency and excellence. He is an inspiration to millions of fans around the world, who marvel at his skills, passion, and dedication. He is a living legend and he is not done yet.
