It was a night of high drama, suspense, and surprises as the nation tuned in to watch the grand finale of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!. A whopping 6.6 million viewers witnessed the epic showdown between the three remaining contenders: Sam Thompson, Tony Bellew, and Nigel Farage.
The trio had survived three weeks of gruelling trials, terrifying critters, and bland food in the Australian outback. But only one of them could claim the coveted crown and the title of King of the Jungle.
The Final Countdown
The final challenge involved eating a series of disgusting dishes, such as kangaroo testicles, crocodile anus, and witchetty grubs. Thompson, who has ADHD, breezed through the task with his trademark optimism and enthusiasm. Bellew, a former heavyweight champion, showed his fighting spirit and determination. Farage, the controversial politician, struggled to swallow his pride and the revolting meals.
The results were announced by hosts Ant and Dec, who revealed that Thompson had won the public vote with a staggering 56.6%. Bellew came second with 43.4%, while Farage was eliminated earlier with 25.8%.
Thompson was visibly shocked and emotional as he was crowned by last year’s winner, Jacqueline Jossa. He thanked the viewers for their support and said he was “really overwhelmed” by his victory.
“I didn’t think I was even going to be invited onto this show, let alone be sat here [on the winner’s throne], he said. “I am so grateful thank you so much. I’ve dreamed of doing this show and being invited on for years and years, and you’ve just made a boy’s dream come true.”
The People’s Champion
Thompson, who rose to fame on the reality show Made In Chelsea, was the bookmakers’ favourite to win from the start. He charmed the viewers and his fellow campmates with his positive personality, hilarious antics, and genuine kindness.
Thompson also showed his vulnerable side, opening up about his struggles with ADHD and his relationship with Zara McDermott. He formed close friendships with Bellew, Dettori, and Giovanna Fletcher, and was always ready to lend a hand or a hug.
He faced his fears in the trials, such as being buried alive with snakes, being covered in spiders, and being dunked in a tank full of fish guts. Also entertained the audience with his impressions of celebrities, such as Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, and Kim Kardashian.
He proved to be a worthy winner and a true king of the jungle. Congratulations, Sam!
