Jack Whitehall, Settle Down Live at Wembley Arena

Date:

Jack Whitehall took to Wembley Arena for the last night of his tour to a 12,000-strong crowd.

Following three sold-out arena shows – Gets Around, At Large and Stood Up, it has been four years since the comedian last toured the UK.

Settle Down is different from his previous tours and it sees the 35-year-old embark on a maturer journey.

However, there is still some of his mischievous younger self there but looking at the world differently since returning from Hollywood and if you haven’t guessed it a nod to the show title settling down.

The show focuses on Whitehall becoming a father for the first time and finding his life partner girlfriend Roxy Horner.

It is also Whitehall’s most personal tour to date where he opens up on the intimate news of his girlfriend’s miscarriage.

Yet, he somehow manages to lighten the tone and bring the audience with him through his anecdotes and cheeky wit.

You can tell the comic is best suited to arenas with his charm and charisma guiding the audience through his life dilemmas even though if you follow the comedian most of it is documented through the media.

Whitehall’s girlfriend gets a few mentions throughout the show in particular their differing opinions on deciding on their pet dog’s name. He wanted to give his ‘fur baby’ an alpha name whereas his girlfriend wanted something fierce like Beyoncé.

He touches upon insecurities of having to live up to his girlfriend’s exes (some more than others albeit Hollywood A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio.

The comic even asked the question if his daughter was really his showing a graphic of the baby scan featuring Leo’s face.

Whitehall also manages to make a joke out of his girlfriend’s diabetes diagnosis and somehow makes it about himself by playing the victim.

The comedian-turned-actor also touched upon living in LA and trying to crack America. He compares how living away made him homesick and realised how much he missed the UK with beer gardens, music festivals and Greggs is what makes Britain great.

Settle Down sees Whitehall firmly keeping his place as one of the UK’s top comics having the Wembley crowd in the palm of his hands.

If you didn’t manage to catch Settle Down, the tour will be available to watch on Netflix on 30 January 2023.
