Doja Cat Mom seeks protection from abusive Son

Date:

Deborah Sawyer, the mother of pop star Doja Cat, has filed a petition for a restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, who she claims has physically and verbally abused her and his sister.

According to the petition, Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, has suffered injuries such as losing teeth and getting bruises and cuts from her brother’s attacks. The 28-year-old singer has not commented on the situation yet.

The petition also alleges that Raman Dlamini has vandalized and stolen property, insulted and degraded his mother and sister, and made them feel unsafe and traumatized. He is 30 years old and does not have a public phone number.

Sawyer, 62, says that her son has abused her “3 to 10 times recently” and “several times in the past.” She had obtained a restraining order against him in 2017, but it expired. The latest incident occurred on Jan. 10, when he reportedly blocked her from entering her home and refused to leave. He also threatened to hit her and choked her, the petition says.

Sawyer’s 13-year-old grandson has witnessed some of the abuse and is also included in the restraining order request. His parents are not named in the petition.

Sawyer says that she lives in “constant anxiety and fear” for her safety and wellbeing. She writes that she needs the restraining order to protect herself and her family from the physical and emotional harm that her son is causing.

Sawyer could not be reached for comment.

A judge granted part of the petition on Friday, but said that there was not enough evidence to include Doja Cat in the restraining order. The singer can file her own order if she wants to. A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 31.
