OdumoduBlvck is not your average Nigerian rapper. He is a singer, songwriter, and performer who blends different genres and influences to create his own unique sound.
He calls it “Okporoko Rhythms”, a term inspired by the traditional Igbo cap known as Okpu Agu, which means “leopard hat”. The Okpu Agu is a symbol of nobility, bravery, and royalty among the Igbo people, and OdumoduBlvck wears it with pride and confidence.
OdumoduBlvck is also known for his outspokenness and authenticity. He does not shy away from expressing his opinions and emotions, even if they are controversial or unpopular.
OdumoduBlvck recently took to his X page, formerly Twitter, to address the issue of “paving the way” for other artists in the Nigerian music industry. He wrote:
“Everybody they claim they pave the way everybody trynna claim Gods glory none of you niggas paved the way for no one nobody paved the way for wizkid or Burnaboy or anybody they hustled.
All of us get our individual struggles and reality. Inspired? Yes. Paved the way? thats God. No human being in the history of misic has paved the way for me.
Thats God so tomorrow make no OG con dey talk say e pave way for me, cause bros you were not there when i was in the dengi so keep quiet sir”
With these words, OdumoduBlvck made it clear that he does not owe his success to anyone but God and himself. Also he acknowledged the hustle and reality of other artists, but refused to give credit to anyone who claims to have paved the way for him or others.
He challenged the notion of “OGs” or “veterans” who try to take glory for the achievements of the younger generation. He also revealed that he had been through a lot of hardship and struggle, which he referred to as “the dengi”, a slang word for malaria or fever.
