Harry Kane’s two goals sent Bayern to Champions League quarterfinals after beating Lazio 3-0

Date:

Harry Kane was the hero for Bayern Munich as he scored a brace to overturn a first-leg deficit against Lazio and book a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Bayern were on the ropes after losing 1-0 in Rome, but Kane came to the rescue with a bullet header to level the tie.

Thomas Muller, the evergreen Bayern legend, added another header to put the hosts in front.

Kane sealed the deal with a tap-in after Leroy Sane’s shot was pushed into his path.

It was a remarkable comeback by Bayern and Kane hopes the result can spark a revival after a dismal domestic season.

“It’s an amazing night for us. It was a massive game,” he said.

“We know we have to get better, but nights like this can transform the season. I’m so proud of the lads and we have to keep this fire burning.

“It was a crucial moment in our season. Everyone was watching us, wondering how we would react after the first leg.

“Hopefully this can be a turning point for the rest of the season.”

Thomas Tuchel’s team were staring at a trophyless season for the first time since 2011-12.

But this win keeps Tuchel’s dream of delivering Bayern a seventh European crown alive before he departs at the end of the season.
