Celebrating International Women’s Day, 8 March 2024

Date:

Today is International Women’s Day (IWD), a global day that celebrates the achievements of women and calls for action to accelerate gender equality. IWD has been observed since 1911, with millions of people around the world participating in various events, campaigns, and initiatives to honor women’s contributions and raise awareness about the challenges they face.

This year, the IWD theme is #InspireInclusion, which aims to forge a more inclusive world for women. Inclusion means recognizing and valuing the diversity of women’s experiences, perspectives, and voices. It also means ensuring that women have equal access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making power in all spheres of life.

Inclusion is not only a moral imperative, but also a strategic one. Research shows that inclusive societies are more peaceful, prosperous, and resilient. Inclusive businesses are more innovative, productive, and profitable. Inclusive teams are more creative, collaborative, and effective. Inclusion benefits everyone.

But inclusion is not a given. It requires intentional and collective action from all stakeholders, including governments, businesses, civil society, media, and individuals. Challenging the stereotypes, biases, and barriers that limit women’s potential and participation. Also requires celebrating the achievements and stories of women who inspire others to follow their dreams and aspirations.

That’s why, on this IWD, we invite you to join us in inspiring inclusion for women. Whether you are a woman or an ally, you can make a difference by:

  • Celebrating women’s achievements in your community, workplace, or social media.
  • Educating yourself and others about the issues and challenges that women face locally and globally.
  • Calling for positive change and action to advance women’s equality and rights.
  • Supporting women-focused charities and organizations that work to empower women and girls.
  • Sharing your own story of how inclusion has impacted your life or career.

Together, we can create a more inclusive world for women. A world where women are respected, valued, and empowered. World where women can thrive and flourish. A world where difference is celebrated and inclusion is inspired.
