Lagos Governor Honors Women on Their Special Day

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, March 8, joined the world in celebrating the women of Lagos in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

Sanwo-Olu, who shared photos of some of the amazing women he met via his X handle, wrote:

“Today, on International Women’s Day, I salute the remarkable women of Lagos. You are the pillars of our vibrant city, the drivers of our progress, and the champions of our dreams.

“From the bustling markets of Lagos Island to the innovative hubs across Yaba, women are leading the way, breaking barriers and shaping a more inclusive future for us all.

“As your governor, I am committed to fostering an environment where every woman and girl can achieve her full potential, free from bias and barriers. Our policies and initiatives are designed to empower women in all spheres of life, recognizing that progress for women is progress for all of Lagos.

“Let’s use this day to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality, to celebrate the achievements of women, and to inspire positive change. Together, we can and will build a Lagos that cherishes and uplifts every woman.

“To the incredible women of Lagos, thank you for your perseverance, leadership, and dedication. You are not just the heart of Lagos; you are its shining light.

“Happy International Women’s Day!”
