In a candid disclosure, Florence Otedola, the Nigerian DJ known as DJ Cuppy, expressed that the previous year was particularly challenging for her due to her difficulty in declining offers and requests.
Speaking at a recent event, she shared her regret over not rejecting her former fiancé, Ryan Taylor, among other things. She emphasized the importance of being able to refuse certain demands and advised the audience to feel comfortable doing so.
Dj Cuppy said, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. And i didn’t say no to taking things on.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was djing, i was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
