Actress Eniola Ajao Explains the Reason Behind Bobrisky’s Best Dressed Female Award

Date:

At the recent premiere of her film, ‘Ajakaju’, Nigerian actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao found herself at the center of a controversy.

The contentious issue was the decision to award Bobrisky, a well-known figure, with the “Best Dressed Female” accolade.

The film, “Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds,” was launched on a Sunday, attracting a host of celebrities. The event was marked by a display of captivating costumes, with Bobrisky unexpectedly receiving the Best Dressed Female award and a cash prize of one million naira. This decision was met with dissatisfaction from some attendees.

Following the award announcement, a social media uproar ensued as Toyin Abraham, Portable, Dayo Amusa, and others engaged in a fiery exchange with Bobrisky. The situation intensified when Femi Adebayo and Dayo Amusa publicly clashed over Adebayo’s endorsement of Bobrisky as the winner.

In an interview with Arise News TV, Eniola clarified that the choice to award Bobrisky was a calculated move designed to attract attention and promote her film. She highlighted Bobrisky’s controversial reputation as a significant factor in this decision, explaining that the intention was to create additional hype around her project.

Ajao stated, “The whole thing was in jest. We were just looking to have a good time and get people talking about the movie. My team and I felt it needed to be in the public eye. So, we decided to give the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky, who is always a topic of controversy. Ultimately, it got people talking, although not everyone was pleased. Criticisms were directed at Femi Adebayo, who presented the award, but it wasn’t his idea, and he wasn’t part of the judging panel. I urge Nigerians not to blame him.”
