Diddy Expresses Regret for ‘Unforgivable’ Actions

Date:

Sean “Diddy” Combs has expressed remorse for his “unforgivable” actions, following the release of CCTV footage that seemingly shows him assaulting singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.

In a video statement on his Instagram page, the rapper accepted full accountability for his actions depicted in the footage.

The video, broadcasted by CNN earlier this week, seems to show Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend in a hotel corridor.

“I was appalled when I did it. I’m appalled now,” he confessed in his statement.

“I sought professional assistance. I started therapy, attended rehab. I pleaded for God’s mercy and grace. I’m deeply sorry.”

The BBC has not independently authenticated the video, which seems to be a compilation of surveillance footage from different angles, dated 5 March 2016.

According to CNN, the footage was recorded at the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday that the alleged assault shown in the video might be too dated to prosecute.

Last November, Ventura settled a lawsuit against Combs, where she accused him of rape and sexual trafficking spanning over a decade, for an undisclosed amount.

Combs’ attorney, Benjamin Brafman, stated at the time that the settlement was “by no means an admission of guilt”.

Since then, several other women have lodged lawsuits accusing the rapper of sexual and physical abuse.

Federal authorities raided his residences in Los Angeles and Miami, Florida, last month as part of a human trafficking investigation.
