“My reinstatement as Emir is a manifestation of divine will”- Emir Sanusi

Date:

Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, recently expressed profound gratitude for his reinstatement, attributing it to divine intervention.

During his appreciation speech at the Government House in Kano, he emphasized that his return to the position was a testament to God’s will and providence.

Sanusi had previously been dethroned in 2020 following a disagreement with the former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In his eloquent words, Emir Sanusi stated,

“The Arabians used to say that in everything we witness, there is a lesson that shows us that God is there. Whatever happens to an individual is preordained by Allah, and for those who are sensible enough, it serves as a lesson.”

“God’s decisions are unchangeable; what he gives, no one can take away, and what he withholds, nobody can reclaim.”

Time will not permit for long talks. Whatever we will say, we have said it when we were leaving.

“We made it clear that God has preordained time and cause for everything and everyone. He gave leadership to whom he wanted and at the time he wanted. When He gives, no one can take it away and when he takes it away, nobody can take it back,” Sanusi said.

Reflecting on the historical significance of his reappointment, Sanusi highlighted the rarity of such events. Over a thousand years of Kano’s history, there had been no comparable case. He commended the Kano State government and assembly for their decisive action, emphasizing that their intervention was a “rescue mission” to preserve the integrity of the emirate system.

Governor Abba Yusuf, while presenting Sanusi with the reappointment letter, praised the Emir’s competence, credibility, and popularity. He urged Sanusi to use his position to foster unity among the Islamic sects in the state, guided by the principles of Islamic teachings.

Indeed, the Emir’s journey—from his initial appointment in 2014 to his recent reinstatement—serves as a remarkable chapter in Kano’s rich history, reaffirming the intertwining of human actions and divine will.
