The scheduled performance of American rapper Nicki Minaj at Manchester’s Co-op Live venue has been postponed due to an unexpected incident at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
Minaj was taken into custody by Dutch police on allegations of exporting controlled substances. After paying a fine, she was permitted to proceed with her travel plans.
The rapper was set to travel to Manchester for a Saturday evening concert, which was subsequently put on hold.
Live Nation, the event organisers, announced: “The performance of Nicki Minaj at Manchester’s Co-op Live, originally planned for Saturday 25th May, has been delayed.”
“Existing tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled show, the date of which will be communicated in due course.”
Minaj documented a portion of her arrest and shared it on social media platforms.
In the shared video, a law enforcement officer appears to inform Minaj of her arrest.
Despite the cancellation, thousands of fans, many donning Minaj’s signature pink, remained optimistic as they entered Co-op Live on Saturday evening, hoping the concert would proceed as planned.
