The Reason Behind Naming a Road After Wole Soyinka – Explained by FCT Minister, Wike

Date:

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has shed light on his proposal to commemorate Prof. Wole Soyinka, a laureate, with a road named after him in the FCT.

As per Tuesday’s reports, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the comprehensive development of the Arterial Road N20, extending from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway.

He highlighted that the motivation behind this decision was to pay tribute to those who have significantly contributed to the nation’s progress during their lifetime.

Wike disclosed in 2020 that the contract for the construction of Wole Soyinka Way was granted at an expense of N30.6 billion. He added that the completion of the road project has brought about a sense of relief among the residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
