Tinubu’s Speech Lacks Actionable Solutions, Says Peter Obi’s Spokesman

Date:

Yunusa Tanko, the spokesman for the Labour Party’s recent presidential candidate, Peter Obi, criticized President Tinubu’s recent address, claiming it failed to provide concrete solutions to the economic challenges facing Nigeria. Speaking to the DAILY POST, Tanko argued that Tinubu’s speech did not adequately address the concerns of disillusioned Nigerian youths.

Tanko remarked, “I don’t think he has addressed the issues raised by the protesters. President Tinubu ought to have responded to each and every demand that is already made in the fliers.” He highlighted the urgent need to address the soaring price of petroleum, suggesting a reduction from N850 to at least N200. Tanko emphasized that this issue significantly impacts all sectors of the national economy.

He also pointed out the need for practical measures to reduce commodity prices and enhance security across the nation. “Or he talks about how to bring the cost of commodities down to appreciable levels or he even ought to have talked about how to secure the lives and properties with practical examples,” Tanko stated.

In addition, Tanko underscored the importance of boosting agricultural production, particularly in northern Nigeria. He suggested that tangible actions such as providing tractors, fertilizers, and seedlings would encourage people to return to farming, thus alleviating the protest’s underlying issues.

Tanko concluded by stressing that Nigerians seek real solutions, not just rhetoric. “These are practical examples that you can show to make people believe that you are dealing with this matter not to continue to speak grammar with no actionable solutions to the problems. I don’t think he has addressed the issues to be honest.”
