In the world of music, collaboration often produces magic. When two or more artists come together, they can create something truly unique—something greater than the sum of its parts. This was undoubtedly the case with P-SQUARE, the duo made up of Peter and Paul Okoye was a group that once dominated the African music scene with a blend of talent, passion, and a shared vision. However, following several controversies the duo disbanded In 2017. This was followed by a reunion In 2021 which saw the release of a single titled “Jaiye” yet all Is far from well between this once-upon-a-time sensational duo.
August 12, 2024 saw Peter Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy release an open letter to his brother, Paul addressing both underlying and public IssuesHe said
“Throughout our time together, at interviews and public appearances I’ve used terms like “we” and “us” because I believed in the strength of our partnership. Our fans didn’t fall in love with P-SQUARE because of who sang or danced more; they loved us for what we created together. The unique blend of our individual talents is what made P-SQUARE a force to be reckoned with. It was never about one person but about the magic that happened when we joined forces”
Peter furthermore said that It Is disheartening how on several occasions, his brother had discredited his contributions to the success of the duo’s career. He pointed out that the essence of their partnership was unity which focused on both their uniqueness and talents but Instead became about Individual recognition and superiority.
In the emotional letter, Peter Okoye raised heart tugging questions to his brother “Is either of us, as Rudeboy or Mr. P, as successful as P-SQUARE was? Are we filling arenas and topping charts like we used to? The answer, sadly, is no”.
The artist ended the letter by saying
“Despite everything, I have always and will always wish my brother Paul the very best. Our journey together was something special, and I believe it’s important to remember that. In the end, I hope that the true narrative of P-SQUARE—one of collaboration, unity, and mutual respect—will prevail. The fans deserve that, and so do we”.
