Abubakar Atiku Addresses President Tinubu

Date:

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to acknowledge the return of fuel subsidies, contrary to his earlier claims. Atiku alleged that the subsidy has become a conduit for funding the 2027 election. He also criticized the accelerated approval of Oando Plc’s acquisition of AGIP and ENI’s onshore assets, citing unfair treatment and harm to more capable investors.

Atiku condemned the House of Representatives for inaction on NNPCL’s alleged mortgaging of national oil assets to vested interests. He highlighted the stalled Seplat and Mobil deal, the Shell/Renaissance deal, and the controversial withdrawal of litigation against Shell/ENI in the OPL 245 scandal.

The former Vice President also criticized the Tinubu administration for human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and misuse of the Cyber Crime Prevention Act to detain citizens. He called for accountability and an end to intimidation of journalists.
