Nigerian singer Seun Kuti recently expressed his admiration for the activist known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), highlighting the exceptional nature of his work. In a recent interview, the Grammy Award nominee shared his deep respect for VDM, stating that no one else possesses the ability to do what VDM does.
Kuti emphasized that, as a musician, he is unable to engage in the same kind of advocacy without being labeled a hater, especially in an industry where exploitation is rampant. Instead, he chooses to focus on national issues that can advance the country, steering clear of personal disputes within the music world.
Kuti also acknowledged VDM’s significant role in addressing serious issues like molestation and rape, particularly cases involving female victims. He praised VDM for his fearless approach in holding perpetrators accountable, noting that his actions have caused many celebrities to be secretly wary of him.
However, Kuti also offered some advice to VDM, suggesting that he should politicize his activism to benefit even those who may not support him. This, Kuti believes, would broaden the impact of VDM’s efforts, ensuring that his work serves a wider audience.
