President Tinubu Urges Peaceful and Respectful Conduct in Edo Governorship Election

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has called on governorship candidates, political parties, and their supporters to respect the democratic process and the will of the people in the upcoming Edo State election. According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the president believes that voters are capable of making informed decisions about their future leaders.

President Tinubu emphasised the importance of civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for electoral rules, stressing that democracy thrives on these principles. He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is committed to conducting a free and fair election and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful and successful process.

Commending the candidates and political parties for focusing their campaigns on issues that matter most to the people of Edo State—such as improving livelihoods and promoting economic growth—Tinubu encouraged citizens to remain peaceful and resolve any disagreements through the proper authorities.

President Tinubu also expressed confidence in the professionalism and integrity of security agencies and INEC officials, urging them to remain impartial and to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

Onanuga concluded by reiterating the president’s commitment to ensuring a credible and transparent election in Edo State.
