Vice President Kashim Shettima Arrives in Sweden for Two-Day Visit Focused on Strengthening Nigeria-Sweden Relations

Date:

Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has arrived in Sweden for a significant two-day working visit aimed at enhancing trade and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden. The visit was confirmed by the Vice President’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, in an official statement on Thursday morning.

Accompanying the Vice President are key Nigerian officials, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and heads of various government agencies. Their presence signals the importance of this diplomatic engagement, which was initiated by President Bola Tinubu to bolster strategic partnerships between the two nations.

During the visit, Vice President Shettima will engage in high-level discussions with Swedish government officials and business leaders, focusing on areas of mutual interest such as information and communications technology (ICT), digitalisation, sustainable transport, education, agriculture, and mining. These sectors present opportunities for collaboration that could drive innovation and development in both countries.

A key highlight of the Vice President’s agenda is a scheduled meeting with Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prime Minister, where both nations will explore new avenues for cooperation. The discussions will focus on leveraging Sweden’s expertise in sustainable technologies and Nigeria’s economic growth potential to build a mutually beneficial partnership.

Vice President Shettima is expected to conclude his engagements and return to Nigeria on Saturday.
