Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed early Thursday morning in his Mumbai home by an unidentified intruder.
The 54-year-old star sustained six injuries, two of which are deep and one close to his spine.
Khan was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition, according to doctors. The intruder reportedly entered Khan’s home in the Bandra suburb and engaged in an argument with a female employee. When Khan intervened, a scuffle ensued, during which he was stabbed.
Khan lives in the apartment with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor-Khan, and their two children. The police have launched an investigation and are searching for the perpetrator.
This incident has prompted movie stars and politically exposed figures in Mumbai to call for increased police presence in the city, as concerns about safety and security grow.
Khan, the son of former India cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore, is one of India’s most bankable actors. He has appeared in over 70 films and television series, some of which he produced, and has won multiple awards, including seven Filmfare Awards.
