Beyoncé has achieved her first-ever win for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. She triumphed at the 2025 Grammys with her country album, ‘Cowboy Carter,’ which clinched the Album of the Year award on Sunday.
This historic win makes Beyoncé the first Black woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys this century, and the first since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
‘Carter Country’ also won Best Country Album of the Year, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to win a Grammy award in a country category in over 50 years.
Beyoncé continues to extend her record as the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, with a total of 35 awards.
Last year, her husband Jay-Z openly criticized the Recording Academy’s judgment, highlighting that despite Beyoncé being the most awarded artist in Grammy history, she had never won the Album of the Year category until now.
