Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has voiced his frustration after the Ogun State government sealed his uncompleted building and hotel in Sango-Ota due to alleged illegal development.
The notice of contravention, shared on Instagram by the ‘Zazu’ crooner, indicated that the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority had sealed the properties.
Portable claimed that during the sealing operation, around 20 of his customers and workers were detained. He also alleged that the alcoholic beverages at his bar were confiscated.
He expressed his concerns on Instagram, writing: “I believe in Eledumare. Nobody can fool me, Omo Olohun. They detained more than 20 people, including artists and customers, and seized cars, bikes, phones, and jobs. They also sealed my new uncompleted building and hotel. Why? In my hometown, without any confrontation, they took all the drinks we were selling at Odowgu Bar and Food. Why? The government should please look into this.
“I am using this place to host events and shows, not just for drinks. I am promoting and helping people here. The government should ask; I installed lights everywhere, and before the road repairs, I called for their assistance. Why would they target my property, which I use to support my family? They later attacked me at my location, but God is greater than them.”
The Ogun State Planning and Development Authority has yet to respond to the allegations.
