Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Friday that Mexico has received nearly 11,000 deported migrants from the United States since President Donald Trump took office on January 20.
Sheinbaum noted that this figure includes approximately 2,500 non-Mexicans. Earlier this week, Sheinbaum reached an agreement with Trump to suspend threatened tariffs on Mexican goods in exchange for deploying thousands of National Guard police to Mexico’s northern border with the United States, aiming to further reduce the flow of U.S.-bound migrants.
During her regular morning press conference, Sheinbaum added that Mexico has also repatriated deported migrants to Honduras via flights and ground transportation. She emphasized that these repatriations were voluntary. “It’s voluntary. We will accompany them so they can go to their home countries,” she said.
